A while back, I went to a home tour nearby, and I snapped some pictures of my favorite house.
I have bought a nicer camera since then, so my pictures are not the best quality, but I thought I would still share them.
I am a sucker for the cast iron railing! It’s so striking.
Here’s the view from the top of the stairs. I love the mirror in the corner, the huge pots, and iron “decor-thing-ies”. (What would you call those?)
The fireplace.
I loved the chairs in the bottom left corner of this picture. I am so mad I didn’t get a close-up of them!
Here’s one of the bedrooms. This is before I knew not to use my flash, and the color of the walls looks awful. It was actually the same color yellow as the rest of the house.
Here’s a cool little trick I saw in the crown molding.
This “looks” like large, expensive crown molding, but it is actually a trick to “fool” the eye. There is a small crown molding on top, and then about 5 or 6 inches down they installed a trim piece parallel to the molding on top. Then they just painted the WALL white in between the two pieces and added some little vertical trim pieces, and it looks fabulous!
This is a very inexpensive way to add a dramatic look to your crown molding. I thought it was beautiful!
Well, that’s it! Hope you enjoyed the tour.
If you want to be entered in this week’s “Christmas in July” giveaway, just leave a comment. I am giving away one of my handmade personalized gingerbread family ornaments.

I would love to live in a house like that too! I have seen that idea about the crown molding before, it would be ideal if you had the right height of ceiling. Put my name in for the giveaway again, and come see me soon, in time for my 100th post giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe molding is beautiful. I cannot wait to show my husband...maybe he will consider doing this in our home. I hope. I love the staircase and that kitchen too!
ReplyDeleteYour ornaments are adorable. My daughter said, "Aw those are cute!"
Beautiful home Traci! Your pics are great! Enter my please! Cindy
ReplyDeleteTraci! Thank you so much for your crown molding suggestion. I do know about this trick and planned on doing this eventually. Someone else suggested this as well and from pictures I've seen, it is a wonderful trick.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check out your blog when I get the time later today....
Thanks again for your sweet comment and suggestion.
Have a wonderful day!

Love the home your toured. Thanks for the tip on the crown molding, great eye for detail you have there. Oh, and I think those iron pieces you asked about are called iron decor-thingies - You were spot on with what you called them. ;-)
ReplyDeleteTraci, I can see why you loved this home tour!!! Wow, it is fantastic...is that a model home or someone's personal home? it is delightful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
